Wall Sconce

This sconce stands like a funnel: it comes out of the wall, narrows downward and tapers to a point. The form is made by bending a single sheet of brass by hand — there is no joint, no visible seam.

The whole body is pierced. The pattern is geometric and dense; as the cone narrows the motifs narrow with it, because every row is redrawn to its own diameter. That is why the pattern does not look applied to the surface but born from the form.

Light rises from the wide mouth of the cone and seeps down through its narrow tip. The pierced surface in between throws a wide, fan-shaped shadow across the wall — covering far more area than the lamp itself.

Antique brass patina is a special finish worked onto the metal: dark along the pierced edges, lighter across the open surfaces, deepening over the years.

At home in corridors, entrance halls, hotel rooms and lobbies, restaurant walls, stairwells and arched niches. Set in a row, it builds a continuing rhythm of light.

Made one at a time in our workshop. Size, pattern, colour and light layout change to order.
