A hexagonal lantern, sitting as if half sunk into the wall. All six faces are pierced by hand: interlocking star flowers at the centre, curving stems around them, and thousands of small openings binding the two together. The upper and lower shoulders carry a finer texture, the middle panels a larger composition — the pattern reads the body not as one surface but as a layered structure.
The light passes not through glass but straight through these cuts. What falls on wall and ceiling is not brightness but the pattern itself: lit, a net of stars opens around the lantern and spreads for metres. The real dimension of the piece is therefore not sixty centimetres but the field of shadow it covers.
Switched off in daylight, what remains is a pierced brass lantern on the wall, working as a decorative object in its own right.
The hammered finials at either end complete the silhouette. The antique brass finish is a patina applied to the metal; it stays dark inside the cuts and light on the surface, bringing the pattern forward. It deepens with time and gives the piece a character of its own over the years.
It suits entrance halls, corridors, stairwells, hammam and spa areas and seating corners. On its own it completes a wall; set in a row it builds a repeating rhythm of shadow.
Each piece is pierced one at a time in our workshop. Size, pattern, finish and light arrangement vary with the order; a different height or another tone of patina can be produced to order.
