The arched language of Moroccan and Andalusian architecture meets the plainness of a contemporary column in a single piece. The hexagonal body drops straight down the wall; each face carries an opal panel closed by a pointed arch. No pattern, no piercing — the arch itself is the only ornament.
The opal panel spreads the light and hides its source. Lit, what appears is six separate columns of light; the arched ends mark where each begins and ends. Across the full hundred and twenty centimetres the light stays unbroken, even and soft.
The caps above and below are pierced by hand; they are the only textured areas balancing the flat body. Part of the light escapes through those openings and leaves two thin halos on the wall, one rising and one falling. The hammered finials at either end give the piece the silhouette of a classical lantern.
The antique brass finish is a patina applied to the metal; it stays dark inside the pierced caps and light on the plain body. It deepens with time and gives the piece a character of its own over the years.
It is designed for hotel and residence entrances, lobbies, stairwells and high-ceilinged corridors. Set symmetrically on either side, it frames a doorway. It is also prepared for sheltered exterior use.
Each piece is made one at a time in our workshop. Size, finish and light arrangement vary with the order; a shorter or longer body is produced to order.
