Wall Sconce

A rectangular box, set as if it had grown out of the corner of the wall. Front and side faces are closed with opal panels; the metal frame draws them as a thin line. There is no other ornament.

The opal panel spreads the light and never reveals its source. What you see from outside is not a bulb but a flat surface lit to an even brightness. It does not dazzle, so it works without disturbing beside a table, along a corridor wall or in a dining room.

Along the top edge runs a band cut into fine slats. Part of the light escapes there towards the ceiling and leaves a halo opening to either side above the box. The sconce therefore lights both by its surface and by its surroundings: soft and even below, lined and active above.

The frame is cut and folded from a single sheet of metal. No joint shows at the corners. The standard finish is dark bronze; antique brass and black are also made.

It is designed for hotel corridors, restaurant walls, bedsides and entrance halls. Set in a row, it builds a regular rhythm of light along a wall.

Each piece is made one at a time in our workshop. Size, finish and light arrangement vary with the order; a different height, a different panel colour or a wider body can be produced to order.
