Chandelier

An onion body rising into a long tapered spire, cut in two at the waist by a wide flat brass flange. Below it a second bowl, closed by a pierced onion finial.

There is no motif on this piece — only dots. The surface carries tens of thousands of round holes of varying diameter: the large ones spaced wide, the small ones packed tight, so the density itself moves across the form. Lit, what lands on the wall is not a pattern but a burst of rays radiating from the centre.

The flat flange at the waist cuts that burst horizontally and splits it in two. That is why the effect reads so sharply.

Antique brass patina. Every hole is punched individually by hand.

That every hole is punched separately explains why a body like this takes days. As the diameter changes so does the punch, and the maker's task is not simply to pierce but to carry the wave of density evenly across the surface. Break the wave and it shows the moment the lamp is lit.

The antique brass surface is not a plating but a patina worked into the metal, and it darkens over time.
