The geometry of Andalusian and Moroccan architecture, carried here into a light fitting. The body is made of intersecting polygonal lattices woven around a sixteen-point star — the traditional mashrabiya grid, set out to the same rule.

A mashrabiya is the wooden screen placed in front of windows in Andalusian and North African buildings. Its work is both to make shade and to hide the interior from outside while leaving the outside visible from within. Brought onto a chandelier, the same grid works in reverse: it gives the light inside out to the room, in pattern.

Behind every panel is opal glass. It hides the lamp completely; all you see is the pattern itself — backlit, unbroken, never dazzling. Horizontal wings reaching from four sides open the silhouette into a cross and widen the light outward.

The upper and lower finials are forged, with the hammer marks left in. That is deliberate — beside the mathematical order of the cut panels, the forged ends carry the mark of the hand.

Ø60 × 120 cm is the standard size, adapted to the height of the room. Antique brass.
