Table Lamp

A table lamp Ø25 cm across and 50 cm tall. The conical body is wrapped in tan leather and the shade is metal in antique brass. Leather and brass age together — both darken and gain sheen with use — so the relationship between them does not break down over time, it deepens.

Through the vertical slit at the front of the body the brass mechanism is visible. That is not decoration but an opening that shows how the lamp works; leaving the mechanism in view rather than hiding it is what gives the piece its handmade character. The sphere carrying the shade is left exposed for the same reason.

The domed shade directs the light downward and keeps it from spilling sideways. For reading that is the correct behaviour: the light lands on the page and never reaches the eye.

The metalwork is made in our Istanbul workshop, the brass surface is aged by hand, and the leather is fitted by hand.

It suits reading corners, bedside tables, desks, consoles and hotel rooms.

Bulb not included. Leather colour and shade tone can be changed per project.
