The classic street lantern of English gardens. The post is slim and upright; at its top an arched arm curves over in a single move — like a shepherd's crook, with no other joint. The lantern hangs from the end of that arch.

The lantern head tapers downward. The trapezoid is not only a shape: with a small lower face and a wide upper one it gathers the light downward instead of spreading it sideways. It lights the path and leaves the rest of the garden dark — which is exactly what English garden lighting looks for.

All four faces are closed with opal panels and the bulb is never visible. At night the lantern glows as a warm, even box with no glaring point inside.

The post is kept slender so it adds no mass among planting. A floor flange fixes it into stone or concrete. The finish is produced in antique brass or dark bronze, both prepared for outdoor conditions.

For long garden paths, among rows of lavender and clipped hedging, at villa entrances and in courtyards within historic fabric. It is at its best set at even intervals along a path.
