Table Lamp, Floor Lamp

A body built from twelve pentagonal faces. Each is cut separately, pierced separately and joined edge to edge with its neighbour — thirty edges and twenty corners in all. The geometry has to be exact; one degree of drift and the last face will not close.

The faces are pierced with dot holes. The dots thin toward the centre and thicken toward the edges, so each pentagon builds a gradient of light within itself. Lit, twelve separate brightnesses appear at once.

The form itself has no orientation. Whichever face comes uppermost the lamp sits in balance and gives a different silhouette. That makes it an easy object to place on a table.

Antique brass patina is a special finish worked onto the metal: dark along the pierced edges, lighter across the open surfaces, deepening over the years.

At home on side tables and consoles, bedside tables, desks, in hotel rooms, on library shelves and inside display cabinets.

Made one at a time in our workshop. Size, pattern, colour and light layout change to order.
