Chandelier

On this chandelier the body is a cage, and the inside of the cage is visible. All four faces are clear glass; from outside the bulbs, the arms and the candle holders read exactly as they are. There is nothing to hide — the inner order is part of the design.

Four candle holders sit on arms rising from the central stem. Lit, the light passes straight through the glass; it is not softened, not scattered. That gives an effect different from Strato or the opal-panelled lanterns: the room gains its own shadows, and the long lines of the cage bars appear on the walls.

The pierced border wrapping the upper edge adds a single ornament to what would otherwise be a plain box. The corner posts are kept slim; the cage reads as line, not weight.

The chain is made to length. It hangs alone in an entrance hall and in rows over long tables and corridors.

At home in entrance halls, stairwells, over dining tables, in hotel lobbies and corridors, restaurant rooms and arched passages.

Made one at a time in our workshop. Size, pattern, colour and light layout change to order.
