A sphere, cut on the diagonal and slid apart. The crescent gap left between the halves is the only place light escapes.

The outward faces are hammered by hand — thousands of small dimples that catch and scatter the light. The inward faces are left smooth, so the lamp gathers there and leaves through the crescent as a hard, clean line. The sphere reads as closed, and lights the room anyway.

The bulb is invisible from every angle. It can hang just above eye level over a table without glare.

Ø20 cm. Chain made to the room. Also produced with a smooth rather than hammered surface.

Antique brass patina. The sphere is raised by hand. At its best hung in threes, or in fives at staggered heights.

Hammering the two faces and leaving the inward ones smooth is what makes the crescent work. If both faces were dimpled the light would scatter before it reached the gap and the line would go soft.

Bulb not included. Available made to measure in other sizes and colours. Made in our own Istanbul workshop since 1984.
