Table Lamp

In Solis the light never reaches the eye directly. A bent arm rising from the round base carries a tilted disc 26 cm across; the inner face of that disc is left bright, and the whole of the light bounces off it into the room. What you see is not a bulb but the brass itself.

A second piece stands beside the disc: a hand-hammered cone. The thousands of small hammer marks across its surface catch the light and each returns its own glint. The cone opens upward while the disc faces down — the two work against each other and produce a layered brightness that has no single direction.

The round base keeps the centre of gravity low; the lamp stays steady even with the arm reaching forward. Apart from a small brass knob on the base, there is no further detail.

The antique brass finish is a patina applied to the metal; it deepens with time, lightens naturally where hands rest, and gives the piece a character of its own over the years.

Solis is made one at a time in our workshop. Dimensions, finish and light arrangement vary with the order, and the piece is prepared differently for interior or sheltered exterior use. A different disc diameter, a different height or another tone of patina can be produced to order.
