Table Lamp

A sphere of brass. Push its upper half with a finger and the two hemispheres part, releasing a thin band of light between them. The further you push, the more the room fills. That is the whole mechanism of Lunaris: no switch, no dial, no remote.

Both hemispheres are drawn in one piece. Fine circular lathe marks run across the surface — not a flaw, but the record of a part worked by hand. The antique brass finish is a patina applied to the metal; it deepens with time, lightens naturally where hands rest, and gives the piece a character of its own over the years.

Closed, Lunaris does not read as a lamp at all; it is a plain brass sphere sitting on a table, a console or a shelf. Open, the light travels sideways rather than up: it lights the surface it rests on and the wall beside it, not the ceiling. It is an ambient piece rather than a reading light.

Lunaris is made one at a time in our workshop. Diameter, finish and light arrangement vary with the order, and the piece is prepared differently for interior or sheltered exterior use. A larger diameter or another tone of patina can be produced to order.
