Tray

A tray of 38 × 24 cm draws a border on a table. Three or four objects lying loose become an arrangement the moment they are set inside it — a tray is there to gather things rather than to carry them.

The base of this one is bronze mirror. Whatever is placed on it — sweets, chocolate, a candle, a perfume bottle, jewellery — appears a second time in the reflection, and the bronze tone keeps that reflection warm rather than cold. It gives a table far more depth than a solid base would.

The rim is a ribbed metal profile finished in antique brass. The ribs break the light horizontally, so the edge reads as a moving frame rather than a flat band. The surface is a hand-applied patina, not a plating.

It suits a coffee table, a console, the centre of a dining table, a bedside table or a hotel room welcome setting, and it is equally at home carrying service in a café or restaurant.

Wipe with a damp cloth; not dishwasher safe. Available made to measure in other sizes and colours. Handmade in our own Istanbul workshop.
