Chandelier, Single Pendant Light

A single hand-hammered disc, hung from the ceiling on a chain. There is no pattern on the surface; only the hammer. Thousands of strikes, advancing ring by ring from the centre to the rim, turn the disc from a dish into a surface. No two pieces are ever the same.

The light source sits behind the disc, out of sight. Light spilling past the rim forms a thin halo, so in the dark the piece draws its own circumference. The face turned downward stays unlit and the hammered texture rests in shadow — which is why, lit, what you see is not a fitting but a ring of light.

The disc hangs at a slight tilt. The chain length is adjustable; use it alone, in pairs, or in dense groups at varying heights. Hung by the dozen in a tall lobby, a stairwell or an atrium, it reads from below as rings of light suspended in the air.

Colour: Antique brass patina, hand-applied; it darkens in the hammer marks and lifts on the peaks.

The same disc is also produced as a flush ceiling fitting and as a wall light. Diameter, chain length and quantity are set by the project; write to us for hotel lobby, restaurant and residential work.
