Single Pendant Light

A pendant that ends where a single sheet of brass, opened slowly under the hammer, curls back over itself. There is no weld or join in the body; the wave is the real form the metal takes as it is beaten. The whole surface is hand-hammered — every dimple is a hammer mark, and no two are the same.

The light sits exposed at the centre of the curl. The broad upper wing cuts the light off from the ceiling while the lower curl gathers it back in and bounces it off the beaten surface, so the light never arrives straight: it breaks across thousands of small hollows and spreads softly. Unlit, the curve of the wing and the texture of the brass stand on their own.

Dimensions: longest side 40 cm, body height 14 cm. The chain is adjustable up to a maximum of 150 cm; it is shortened to your ceiling height and can be produced longer on request. Single light source.

Colour: Antique Brass. A hand-applied finish with real depth that darkens in the hollows of the hammered surface and lifts on the peaks — so although the piece is a single colour, the surface keeps shifting under the light.

Use it in aligned pairs and threes over a kitchen island, alone above a dining table, in an entrance hall or over a reading corner. The chain is shortened for low ceilings and extended for high ones to match the scale of the room.
