Chandelier

A light over the table whose height you decide.

Beneath the ceiling rose hangs a long lyre-shaped frame carrying two pulleys, with a brass counterweight shaped like an acorn at its centre. Two cables run over those pulleys and down to the horizontal bar. Draw the bar down and the weight rises; let go and it stays. Lower it while you eat, raise it once the table is cleared.

Each end of the bar carries a bell shade with a rolled rim, 20 cm across, finished with a stepped cap and a ball finial. A sphere and a drop finial sit at the centre of the bar — that is the whole of the ornament; the rest is the mechanism itself.

The finish is antique brass, worked by hand.

Dimensions: 85 cm overall, 80 cm across the bar, 70 cm of pulley frame. Shades 20 cm across and 12 cm deep. Ceiling rose 12 cm across, 5 cm deep. Suited to a kitchen island, a long dining table, a bar counter.

Made to order. Bar width, shade diameter, colour and quantity change on request; metal and electrical fittings are specified per order.
