Chandelier, Single Pendant Light

The body is a string of brass beads threaded one above another. Each bead is turned individually, sanded by hand and fitted to the next; as the string runs down it becomes not a plain tube but a line with a rhythm. At its end sits Ø15 cm opal glass — a sphere, or a horizontally flattened oval.

The light sits inside the glass. Opal does not pass light straight through; it scatters it inside and gives it out evenly, so the bulb is never visible. The brass string does not reflect, it simply holds the glass: what is lit is the glass, while the stem stays a dark line.

Stem length is set by the number of beads; simply state your ceiling height when ordering.

Colour: Antique brass, hand-applied; it darkens where the beads meet and lifts across their crowns.

The same beaded stem with a different glass: a clear, relief-patterned globe instead of opal. As the light passes through the texture it casts a fine pattern onto the wall and ceiling. Used alone over a console, in a corridor or an entrance hall.
